A Year of Possibilities For Those Who Desire To Grow

blank notepad for setting goals

What will 2023 look like for you? What sounds exciting or fun?

Or, what is that thing you’ve been putting off and wish you could feel more motivation for?

Are you feeling excited to start the year off strong, with a renewed sense of commitment, goals defined, and plans made?

Others maybe have a vague idea of what they would like to see happen this year, but may feel unsure of where start or don’t like planning.

Some of us see New Year’s resolutions as arbitrary, and refuse to participate.

I find it SO interesting to hear the different perspectives this time of year and really enjoy hearing everybody’s opinion!

Whatever camp you’re in, as a coach, I would offer that it’s possible to remove the heaviness that many people feel when it comes to resolutions.

Try to catch yourself if you’re thinking daunting thoughts regarding improving your health, organizing your home or finances, or starting that project.

A question I like to ask myself is, What would make this more fun?

The most important ingredient to your success is having a better headspace.

If you can manage your mind to keep the focus on the possibilities rather than the obstacles, you will no doubt make progress.

Here’s to a year full of possibilities! Reach out at karen@coachingwithkaren.com if I can help you get started!

Redefine & Recommit

Simple Weight Loss for Busy Moms

It’s a GREAT time of year to redefine what you want when it comes to your health and overall wellness, and recommit.

As summer comes to an end, and the kids go back to school, this is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of the change of pace and start a healthy habit or pick up where you left off.

After all these years, I still love that feeling of change that back-to-school time brings, and the fresh start that a change in the seasons provides. 📓 🍁

What plans do you have for the fall? Where can you fit in a little self-care?

With the weather cooling off, I look forward to my walks being even more enjoyable and the air feeling more crisp and refreshing.

If you enjoy get outdoors and like to walk, hike, bike or run, my tip for today is to check out the AllTrails app if you haven’t already. It’s an amazing app that helps you discover walking and hiking trails in your area that you never even knew existed!

I simply can’t live without this app. It continues to surprise me that there are so many beautiful greenways and trails so close to where I live.

Check it out and see for yourself! You can find it on the Apple app store HERE, or you can find it wherever you download apps. I am not affiliated with the app, just sharing what I love in case it helps you get out there and have fun. 😄

Be sure to use the amazing filter so that you can find exactly what you’re looking for! Length of the trail, difficulty level (easy, moderate, hard), paved vs. unpaved. Oh, and you’d like to see waterfalls, a lake or water view? Just select the features and your choices will pop up.
Get out there and ENJOY!

It Starts with a Goal

A new year. A fresh start. A clean slate.🤩 🤩 🤩

What goal do YOU want to work on this year?

If you’re like me, January is a great time to not only rest and recover from the activity of the holidays, but also to think about what you want to accomplish this year.

What have you been putting off that you would like to give some attention to in your life?

As a coach for busy moms, I can help you with any goal or area you feel stuck.

With all goals, step one is to get very specific about what you are trying to accomplish. It’s not “get healthier,” it’s exercise 3 times per week consistently, or limit alcohol to x# of glasses on Friday and Saturday nights.

If it’s “get more organized,” start with one shelf in the closet, or one drawer in your mudroom.

If you’re seeking “more connection”, be specific about how you plan to reach out, text, call, or meet in person and how often.

More importantly, it must be doable. If you change too much too fast, your willpower, or even genuine excitement over the new challenge, will eventually run out.

As calendars start to fill back up again and life starts to get in the way, what will your strategy be to keep your head in the game?

Coaching is a tremendous help for this reason.

Coaching provides accountability, focus, and someone to help you craft a baseline strategy for the days when we feel too busy or we lose steam.

It provides a methodology for making progress each day, and the mindset skills to manage your mind during the times when you feel like giving up. We’ve all heard it said that the only time you truly fail is when you give up.

So let’s find a way to stop giving up.

I invite you to a free call to see if coaching is right for you.

Your results are waiting.

What Are You Bringing to Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. If you aren’t hosting this year, chances are you will offer to bring something to contribute to the family meal. Whether it’s an old family favorite or a new recipe, we will put time and effort into bringing something to share.

While we give a lot of attention to the delicious meal that is certainly a highlight of the day, one thing that we might not remember to consider is the mindset that we are bringing (the same mindset tools that we use for weight loss apply to so many other situations).

I hope that your holiday will be full of nothing but joy, but for many, holidays can be a little challenging. Family members from far and wide will gather in the spirit of the season, and the day will be full of catching up with one another, sharing what’s going on in our lives and often talking about current events. Everyone doesn’t always see eye-to-eye, and that can cause some friction at times. Some relationships are harder than others, which can cause some trepidation about gathering together. And for others, holidays may bring up sadness over the loss of a loved one, or the inability for a loved one to join them that day.

The mindset we bring to these gatherings can make all the difference. If there is any part of the holiday gathering that you are dreading, I would offer you this. Along with the side dish we’re bringing, we can also decide to bring a healthy serving of compassion.

Compassion for yourself if you are struggling in some way, compassion for others that feel strongly about their point of view, compassion for that difficult relationship that decided to come or didn’t. Spending some time to get into the right headspace about you want to show up and how you want to feel in these circumstances goes a long way to ensuring a positive experience on the holiday.

If this sounds too easy, and you could use some help getting there, sign up for coaching on this. I have literally seen it work wonders. You can reach out at https://coachingwithkaren.com for more information.
